"User Cancelled" Error while viewing Crystal report

Hi,
I have a Crystal Reports v10 Report that has been working fine
for the past X years. It is invoked by a VB6 app using the
Report Viewer. For some reason, sometimes when the report is
executed, it displays the message "User Cancelled" immediately
after the viewer window is opened, even though the user did not
cancel the report. None of the code has changed, neither has the
report.

Does anyone have any clue as to why this message should appear?

AnandhSometimes I see this message when there is an issue with the print spooler on the computer where the report is being generated. Try going to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services and then restarting the Print Spooler service. After doing this, reboot the computer.

If this doesn't work, then it isn't the print spooler causing the problem.

years of operation, and we're having trouble locating the problem. Here is
the error message below. The reference in the Knowledgebase for this error
doesn't seem to apply to us. There is plenty of space left on the drive. I
believe we're using SP3 of SQL Server 2000. Can anyone point us in the right
direction? Thanks!!

You say there is plenty of space left on the disk, but is there a max
size limit set on the file(s) contained in the PRIMARY filegroup? Can

The database properties is set to "Unrestricted Growth" but for some reason when the data file gets to 928MB, we get that error message even though there is plenty of free space on the drive. Why would that happen?

In the DB in question. It's not that we don't trust you, it's just that
we prefer to deal in black & white (this is a troubleshooting process).

|||Here is the output from sp_helpfile. When I use Enterprise Mgr. and edit the properties for the database "CAA" I see that the Checkbox for "Unrestricted Growth" is checked. There is several GB on the drive, so we thought the database would continue to grow unrestricted until all the space is taken up. Instead we get the error once the CAA_Data.MDF file grows to around 928MB. The only way we can get the ASP application running again is to delete records thus reducing the size of the .MDF file.

There are some funky things that Windows sometimes does in the way of
reserving disk space for virtual files, that could be involved.
Have you tried the simple expedient of rebooting the server?

you have fr ee space. Autogrow has its issues and these things does happen (files doesn't
autogrow -> error message), search the archives for old posts and technical details. So, just expand

Here is the output from sp_helpfile. When I use Enterprise Mgr. and edit =the properties for the database "CAA" I see that the Checkbox for ="Unrestricted Growth" is checked. There is several GB on the drive, so =we thought the database would continue to grow unrestricted until all =the space is taken up. Instead we get the error once the CAA_Data.MDF =file grows to around 928MB. The only way we can get the ASP application =running again is to delete records thus reducing the size of the .MDF =file.
CAA_Data
1 F:\MSSQL\Data\CAA_Data.MDF PRIMARY 950272 KB Unlimited 5% data only
CAA_Log

There are some funky things that Windows sometimes does in the way of
reserving disk space for virtual files, that could be involved.
Have you tried the simple expedient of rebooting the server?

you have fr ee space. Autogrow has its issues and these things does happen (files doesn't

I had a client a while ago that hit this same issue they were using FAT32
and were hitting the max file size limit due to the file system maximum
which in there case i think was 4GB if i remember correctly...
Are you using NTFS?
possibly maybe also some form of disk quota for the user account ?

I created my DB in SQL 2005 Express in VS IDE. I have my app in IIS. When I try to use the DB (e.g. try to login a user in the app) it gives me the following error:

Cannot open database "cvRepository" requested by the login. The login failed.
Login failed for user 'MyPC\ASPNET'.

My guess was that I had to give permissions to ASPNET user so I did in SQL Server Management. Still not working! Checked my Connection string and I think it's fine...

Can anyone explain me what's wrong and to solve this?!

Try replacing Database=cvRepository withAttachDBFileName=|DataDirectory|cvRepository.mdfin your connectionString.

a .Net application. Now, i need to constantly makes changes in both tables.
Not to the data, but to the design. Some fields might be added, some deleted,
new views, new sp.
My question is... How can i automatically update the Live database with any
change in the development database. I would rather make the changes in the
Live database to assure no data loss occur, but i want those changes to be
"replicated" back to my development. is there any system's stored proc that
would help me do that?

I get the "exclusive access could not be obtained.. .. database is in use" error message
I did "Use Master" in query analyser and ran the same restore sql command and it worked fine. I do not know how to use "Use master" here in ado.net. I know it has something to do with sp_Who but not sure how the syntax will fit in.

I am using MSDE with my application and providing our users UI to backup/res
tore the database. My app has just 1 database and 1 login mapped to 1 user
(MyAppUser). Backup and restore functionality is using inline sql commands.

If you are restoring over an existing database you will also need specify
WITH REPLACE.

You can use cn.ChangeDatabase("master") to change database

"...remote name could not be resolved" when using custom Web App

Hi all,
I'm getting a headache trying to figure out what is going on here. I've set
up Reporting Services on 1 dev machine and 2 servers and using a Web
Application that I am developing to access Reporting Services to generate a
report for me. Everything works fine on both my development machine and one
of the servers, but the other server keeps on producing this error:
"The underlying connection was closed: The remote name could not be resolved."
As far as I can remember, every instance of RS was installed identically.
Also, I can use the Report Manager from the server and from networked
computers to generate reports with no issues. Its only upon my Web Apps
access to the RS that I get this error. Is this similar to the SSL issues a
lot of people have been discussing? I'm still quite a newbie when it comes to
sql server and iis, so if this has been answered elsewhere already, I'd
appreciate a link :)
AndreAfter a bit of debugging I found that the problem was actually just that a
static web refference to the report server was being used, and that was
pointing at the other server still.
All works fine now.
