Hi

My project is in .NET 2003 i.e. framework 1.1 and database in SQLServer 2000. But the reports have been developed using SQLServer 2005 Reporting Services. Now when I am trying to deploy them through deployment project of .NET its giving me following error:

"Using other editions of SQL Server for report data sources and/or the report server database" is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services.

Now I am really confused with this. Can any one please guide me regarding this ASAP.

You will need to use the SQL Server 2000 Reporting Services or upgrade to SQL Server 2005. SQL Server Reporting Services 2005 requires SQL 2005 (Express Edition does not count either)|||

Actually I m trying this with reporting services of SQL Server 2005 trial version (express edition)... and database SQL Server 2000 enterprise edition (licenced version)...

So won't this wrk after mking n e settings or arrangements? Do I need to hv my database also in 2005 and not in 2000?

On my machine I was having both SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005. I was using project server database and wss database of SQL Server 2000 and Reporting Services and its database of 2005. Accordingly I was getting following error while running reportserver of reporting services 2005:

"Using other editions of SQL Server for report data sources and/or the report server database" is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services

So I uninstalled SQL Server 2000 from my machine. I started using project server database and wss database of SQL Server 2000 from some other machine. For Reporting Services and its database of 2005 it used it from my machine.. So every thing worked fine and its not giving any error.

But my actually requirement is using project server database and wss database of SQL Server 2000 and Reporting Services and its database of 2005 for which I get above error.

So please help me out with this ASAP. Is there any work around for this?

"User Cancelled" Error while viewing Crystal report

Hi,
I have a Crystal Reports v10 Report that has been working fine
for the past X years. It is invoked by a VB6 app using the
Report Viewer. For some reason, sometimes when the report is
executed, it displays the message "User Cancelled" immediately
after the viewer window is opened, even though the user did not
cancel the report. None of the code has changed, neither has the
report.

Does anyone have any clue as to why this message should appear?

AnandhSometimes I see this message when there is an issue with the print spooler on the computer where the report is being generated. Try going to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services and then restarting the Print Spooler service. After doing this, reboot the computer.

If this doesn't work, then it isn't the print spooler causing the problem.

"Too many requests being handled for user" error while accessing Report Manager

Hi,
When I try to access Report Manager(http://<reportserver>/Reports) I'm
getting the following error message:
"There are currently too many requests being handled for user:
[DOMAIN]\[USER]. Please wait until the current requests have finished
processing before issuing any more."
However there are no problems when I try to access the Report
Server(http://<reportserver>/ReportServer).
Has anyone encountered a similar situation before?

RamkiRestarting IIS resolves the issue. Increasing the
"MaxActiveReqForOneUser" in RSReportServer.config from its default of
20 might also be an option.

https://myserver/reports by using a browser. However, when creating a report
project, I couldn't deploy and got the error message : "The connection could
not be made to the report server https://myserver/reportserver".

When you open the browser and navigate to https://myserver/reportserver do
you get a https certificate prompt (yes/no/install cert?). This was the issue
for me... click on Install Certficate and try deploying again.

"String constants must end with a double quote" error

Hi,
I've created a bunch of reports locally on my machine, where they all run
just fine, but when I try to deploy them to a server I run into some
problems.
I only have access to the server through a third party remote desktop
application (NetOp), so I have to do the deployment by manually uploading
the .rdl file in Report Manager. The reports uses MDX queries which I've had
to change into concatenated strings to allow for parameters, but when I try
to upload the files I only get the "BC30648 String constants must end with a
double quote." error.
If I remove the parameters, and the quotes around the whole query the files
upload just fine. Additionally, I've tried uploading the files manually both
on my own machine and a colleague's without getting this error. The reports
also run fine on these two machines after the upload (and configuration of
datasources).
Below is a sample of the query in a report that will throw the error on the
remote machine (for clarity this one doesn't use parameters):

I had developed the reports on SP1 but forgotten to upgrade the server. That
caused the report to crash because of the query being split onto multiple
lines, which pre-SP1 doesn't support.

"Server has not yet been opened" - XP

I have the "Crystal Reports Viewer Control" in one of my VB 6.0 applications. The report was working great on the Windows 2000 OS, but when I moved the application to Windows XP it now gives the error "Server has not yet been opened". I have made sure that a system DSN has been created for the ODBC connection. I have connected to the DSN using the "Crystal SQL Connectivity Test Utility - SQLCON32". I even tried registering or re-registering many of the crystal dependencies. I have Crystal Reports 8.5 Professional Edition loaded and the report works fine if I open it with the Professional Edition, but not the viewer. I am baffled.

I commented out that line of code and ran the report in Windows 2000 and received the message "Server has not yet been opened.", but the report displays with that line of code left in. I'm using ASP.NET with SQL Reporting Service to generate PDF reports.
Most of the time it works well.
But sometimes PDF doesn't come out (esp. if the report is complicated),
with the error message at below.
I use 2 separate servers for Web Server / Reporting Service.
And i suspect a cause is not enough memory?

I want to give the ability to my customers to design the reports, without
installing Vs2005 to use its designer, since they are not developers... Is
there some tool that allows me to design rdlc outside of Vs2005 ide?

reports. First you create a database "model" and put on the Report Server
for the users. Then users access Report Builder through Report Manager in a
Web browser. Users can save their report definitions; however, the .rdl
files from Report Builder do not seem to be interchangeable with the .rdl
files produced by Visual Studio.

Thanks, but i use rdlc files (not rdl) which are in "local processing" mode
(that is, without reporting services). So i was searching for a designer for
rdlc files, not rdl.|||rdlc files are the same thing as RS 2005 (not RS 2000) rdl files. All you
have to do is take a rdl file and rename it to rdlc. As a matter of fact,
the designer is so much better in the RS 2005 designer that I design and
test the report there (for instance it has a preview tab) and then I bring
it into my project.

sqlserver 2005 or reporting services) the capability to modify the rdlc

Another option you have is - take the RDL specification and write your
custom program which can author RDL files triggered by user inputs or
events.

"Jump to Report" where the report is a linked report.

I setup a folder called _Master in Report Manager and I deploy all reports to
this folder. I setup additional folders through Report Manager that are
related to specific job functions: Sales, Customer Service, Marketing, etc.
Whenever I create a linked report using the "Jump to Report" feature in the
navigation tab, the linked report automatically defaults to the _Master
folder. Since I limit access to _Master solely to administrators, this means
I cannot use the "Jump to Report" drill down.
Is there any way to make the "Jump to Report" feature search for the report
in the current folder? I tried making references like ../Sales/Report1, but
this hard-coded Sales as the end folder. For instance, is there a way to do
../CurrentFolder/Report1 to make certain people in the Sales folder remain in
the Sales folder?

I am trying to upgrade a crystal application from VS.Net 2003 to VS.Net 2005. Some of the reports work just fine in the new enviroment. But one of the reports does give me a hard time.

It is a little complicated, so please bare with me. The report uses a c# derived DataSet class as its Database Fields source. It also uses a DataTable as its data source. I traced the program and realized that once I change the format of the FieldObject and call the report object's refresh() method, the same exception is thrown. For example:

myReport.Refresh(); // ok here
myFiledObject.Width = 0;
myReport.Refresh(); // throw exception

I also tried to reset all the FieldFormat for the FieldObject, but the same thing happen. Once I change the FieldFormat and refresh, it throws an exception. I am so confused now!

"Directory Listing Denied" Issue

Hi, I have a problem with viewing already deployed Report through Reports
Manager. I am able to see the list of reports in Reports Manager but when I
click on any report, I'm getting "Directory Listing Denied" error message.I
am using SQL Server Reporting Services 2000, on IIS6. Any ideas?Did you find a solution? One of our other administrators made some
configuration changes the other day and we are now experiencing the same
problem. I looked at the IIS settings and they appear to be the same that I
remember they always were. If I try to access the reports from
https://sitename/ReportServer, I am getting HTTP Error 403 - Forbidden.
I'm an admin on the box so I'm not sure why it would be forbidden.

is grayed out, and no "Standard Reports" context menu item is there. I've
found no reference to additional steps to get these reports enabled/visible.

"can grow" option in subreports

Hi

I m using a sub report in one of my reports. In the subreport, I have selected the "Can grow" option.

I have the subreport in the details section of the report. But if the length of the subreport is long then it overlaps on the group footer section.

How can I avoid this ?
