"The Lab Is Not Available" message from ELearning Offline Player

I'm working on Course 2944: Updating Your Reporting Skills to Microsoft® SQL
Serverâ?¢ 2005 Reporting Services
When I attempt to do the lab "Designing a Report", I get this message. Any
idea WHY it's not available or what I can do to fix the problem and get to
the lab?

MikeYeager.comI have exactly the same problem with lab 2924.
Any ideas anyone?
Thanks|||I'm also having this problem.
It's not all the labs because the first one worked. I've tried course

Did you have any luck with a solution?|||No luck. This newsgroup doesn't seem to be monitored by MS staff.

"Oracle Not Available" error from SQL

We have a DTS package utilizing an ODBC connection to and Oracle database to run a few updates. I can TNSPING the Oracle instance but get the error Ora-01034 ORACLE not available when trying to run the package.
Any ideas?DTS packages can run as scheduled tasks, on the server itself, or from a workstation. They may or may not have the same NT Credentials. My guess would be that you're running the task from two different machines (a workstation and a server), where one has Oracle connectivity and the other does not.

-PatP|||Pat, Thanks for the reply.

This is all running from our SQL server and is scheduled from there. When i am looking at the DTS package, specifically the connection i can not even close it without getting the error.|||Have you rebooted NT since you installed the Oracle drivers on your server?

-PatP|||We have been utilizing the Microsoft ODBC for Oracle drivers.|||Have you tried running xp_cmdshell stored procedure from sql server with something like 'tnsping oracle_server'?

exec master..xp_cmdshell 'tnsping oracle_server_name'

what is the result? it could help to determine the source of problem

btw we have been using microsoft ole db provider for oracle for two years in dts packages and it's absolutely problemless. but only for selects. mojza

"NT Authority/NetworkService" not available as a login

Just installed Server 2003 and then SQL server 2000 followed by sp3a and I'm trying to use an ASP.NET program called DNN which wants "NT Authority / NetworkService" user for access to the database. However, "NT Authority / NetworkService" is not showing
up in the database after installation.
Why is this?
How can I fix it?
Thanks
OK...finally, out of frustration, I just pasted in the name 'NT Authority/NetWorkService'
Start at:
SQL Server Enterprise Manager,
Security node,
Logins node (right click and select New Login),
SQL Server Login properties - New Login,
Paste 'NT Authority/NetWorkService' into the 'name field'
The 'NT Authority/NetWorkService' user was created and it also appears to work properly.

"Not enough server storage is available to process this command"

Hi,
We have several customers using replication on similar databases - all with the same schema, published using essentially the same script. One of them has been getting the "Not enough server storage" message when they try to access any network shares on th
e server with the published database on it. This starts happening between 24-36 hours after they first run the snapshot agent.
The application log contains an entry saying "The process could not create file \\[SERVER]\REPLDATA\unc",
and the system log has one saying "The server was unable to allocate from the system paged pool because the pool was empty".
When they turn off the replication everything is fine.
I suggested increasing the IRPStackSize value in the registry, as this was mentioned in the closest article I could find on MSDN/KB (something about Norton AntiVirus), but this didn't make any difference.
This is SQL Server 2000 running on Windows 2000 Server, all with up-to-date service packs.
Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.
Mark
from your earlier post i understand that the snapshot creation part gives

1. Check if the sql server service account has appropriate NTFS and share

2. Check if there is enough storage space on the disk for creating files

3. Check if you can run xp_cmdshell "dir
\\distributorname\c$\mssql\repldata"
and dir \\distributor\c$\mssql\repldata from command prompt.

"No more data available to read" error

Hi All
"No more data available to read" error is thrown by database driver when
connections max out on SQL Server. Does any one know what this means and ho
w
can i resolve this issue? An application developed in Java uses SQL Server
for data storage. Thank you in advance. This is not a sql server error message. It is an error message that is
raised by the jdbc driver itself.
It could be caused by several things that I know of, but each is sort of
application dependent.
1) Thread contention (non-thread safe) code within the app. 2 thread
competing for the same data in memory on the server
2) BLOB types, I read a bit that having BLOB types within your result set
can lead to this type of problem
3) Trying to scroll backward, or through a forward-only result set for a
second time.
I'd recommend contacting the JDBC driver manufacturer, as they would have
more details. I would be surprised if it was really related to not enough d
b
connections.
Sorry I can't be of more help.

"network name is no longer available"

Hi all,
I'm having a problem with backing up SQL to a network share, often I would
get the "network name is no longer available". Sometimes it works and
sometimes it doesn't. During the backup, both servers - source and
destination are at minimal cpu , memory and network utilization. Network
drivers are also up to date. OS has sp4. Has anyone come across this
before? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.
I ran into this myself sometimes an these are a few thing I would look for
answers in: What do the SQL Server Error logs say and what do the
application logs on the server say? Is the server you are backing up on a
NAS box or use IDE drives or SCSI drives? Is the server holding the backups
using a static IP address? Does this problem only occur on this one server
holding the backup or on any server you try?
Depending on these answers the problem should be isolated more.

Did you restarted your Windows Server after setting up PAE and same for SQL
Server's AWE setting. You need to restart your SQL Server service to take
effect this setting.
Please let me know the values of the counters above. (Don't analyze only for
2-3 mins. Give them at least 1 hour to work and do it in peak-hours)

That looks really bad. I was about to suggest that you should open a
case with Microsoft, but as I searched in Books Online for error
17803, I found something interesting: it's listed in a section for
for error codes listed by Open Data Services. So maybe this is due
to a memory leak in an extended stored procedure?
Do you if there are any extended stored procedures installed on your
system (beside those that ship with SQL Server)? Would it be possible
to keep them from running for a while to see if the problem goes away.

with the awe hot fix. We are on windows 2003 sp2. We've had this happen
several times on a production server. We tried killing some spids that we
thought might be causing the problem - but that didn't help. We had to
reboot the server.
We have a case open with microsoft - but so far they are telling us its
beyond SQL Server's scope. SQL Server is using all the memory except for a
little we have set aside (1 gb out of 4 gb) for the OS, etc.
Let me know what you found.

"Custom" Report Model Data Source?

Hello,
Is this a true statement: "The only Data Sources available to a Report Model
are SQL Server 2000, SQL Server 2005, and SQL Server Analysis Services 2005"?
I had read somewhere that there was going to be an ability to specify a
"custom" query processors so that you could use data sources in addition to
the items listed above.
Thanks!I don't think so...
Since you can use ADO.Net every supported DataRpovider should work with
it... at least in local reports
